Moments from Mumbai

gateway of india

It’s been a while blog friends! Apologies for the slight delay in my new post, but life stuff got in the way and I wanted to upload this mini “vlog”, which I knew would take me hours to edit, so naturally I put it off! I spent around 4 hours of my Saturday night editing this bad boy (rock and roll life!) and am super proud of the end result.

If you didn’t know, I went to Mumbai/Bombay 3 weeks ago for my sister’s wedding shopping, and if you’ve ever been on this type of trip (I avoid the word holiday as there was little to none bikini/beach time!) you’ll know that it can be very full on. Therefore planning on doing full outfit posts was unrealistic, so I decided to film little snippets of our trip and put them together in a non-talking type of vlog.

I hope you like it…

This Week I’m Baking – Easter Oreo Truffles

oreo truffles oreo trufflesEaster (amongst Christmas) is one of my favourite times of the year. The weather gets warmer (we hope!), days get longer, pastels are everywhere and it is totally acceptable to indulge in egg shaped treats, even though you’re way past the age of 5. I jumped on the egg-cellent bandwagon and make these pastel coloured oreo truffles. They’re super easy to make and a very egg-citing (last one I promise!) gift for anyone if you pop them in a basket lined with coloured tissue paper.oreosYou will need:

1 pack Oreos
8 oz. cream cheese
Coloured candy melts (including white)

  • Add the Oreos to a food processor and pulse until even crumbs.
  • Add the cream cheese and pulse until well mixed.
  • Divide the mixture into small balls and then roll the egg shapes by hand.oreo trufflesPlace these babies in the freezer to harden for 15-20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile melt your candy melts either in the microwave or on the stove, but remember to mix white with the colour you’re using to get that soft, pastel colour.
  • Dip the eggs into the chocolate and leave them to dry on some parchment paper.
  • Once completely dry, drizzle or pipe some of the left over chocolate onto the eggs.

Spring Casuals

ashumi ashumi spring The white jeans are out. This could only mean one thing ladies and gents, spring is coming! Get excited! It’s funny how the little things in life can completely affect our mood. If the day is super sunny and I’m able to head out with just a light jacket on, it’s going to be a good day. But, if it’s raining cats and dogs outside, I know it’s going to be a eat a whole jar of Nutella kind of day. So now that it gets darker at 6pm (woop!) and the fact that I didn’t have to hide my coat when shooting these pictures makes me a very happy Ash.

Now onto the outfit. It’s not the most unusual of outfits and definitely won’t be on any catwalks anytime soon, but sometimes it’s nice to head outside in just a pair of your comfy jeans, the most softest chambray shirt, a coral jumper and hair scrapped back into pony tail (read: greasy hair day). No heels in sight. Bliss. It still doesn’t beat the comfort of Primark pyjamas but the last time I checked it’s sadly still not socially acceptable to head outside in your PJs, besides a midnight run to Tesco that is.
